New friends at the hospital

January 23, 2008

Hey Everyone! How is everything over in Texas? I hope everything is going fine, I am doing great.

I have recently arrived at the hospital. Yes, I am so excited that I am finally here. There are so many kind people here so far I have made many friends. There is Melody who is 12; she is very kind. Melody has taught me so much about the mission and the people here. There is Andrew who is 13 as well, Jamie, who is 8, Peter, who is 12, and Adam, who is 16. They have been so friendly and kind to me.

Our house that we are staying in is unusually large for mission house and so comfortable (feels like home). We have some people that are helping us get adjusted at home too. There is Richard, who is helping us cook. He is so kind, and there is Milcah, who is helping us around the house with cleaning and such. You have to collect rainwater for everything. Even the laundry- you have to pour it into the washing machine and then line dry everything!! They are both from the Kipsigi tribe. I love them both, they are so very kind.

Well that’s all for now,
Georgia Grace

Oh sweet Georgia…I don’t know if you remember me…Christy ‘Paine’ Hutchins. You were a flower girl in my wedding and I babysat you for several years. It blows my mind that you are a teenager. :-) Makes me feel quite older! :-) I loved hearing how it’s going in Kenya! So awesome that you and your family are doing this. I’m proud of all of you! You are a beautiful young lady and I truly miss you and your sisters and parents so much! Hugs all around sweetie!

Hi….I am praying for you! I am a missionary to Kenya but am in the states til May. I am very aware of your location and it makes me miss being there with the Africa people. Are they not the greatest people? I am sure your life has already been touched but get ready becuase doing mission work esp in Africa changes your life in many ways!

    God Bless You All,
    Kelly “Makena” Morris
    Missionary Kenya, Africa.

“Makena” is my swahili name, meaning “joy and happiness”-the African ministry I work with gave me that name…pretty special story to me!

Hi all. It is great to see that you (Paul) and your wonderful family and friends have come to make a positive difference in my beloved country. Am sure that God will guide and bless the works of your hands.
On the other hand please, please, i would wish to make a sincere plea to all of you. Pray for my country that the hate and conflict that is going on would cease and never resurface again. Kenya has been a God fearing and peaceful country for many decades, but the devil has over the last few weeks brought so much death and destruction.
I believe that the only thing that can help Kenya now is for God to do a miracle to save all the innocent lives that we are losing everyday. It has gotten to be so bad that the other day a catholic priest was killed just because of his tribe, it is a really sad situation down here.
But according to God, i know if we just humble ourself and pray for forgiveness, He will surely heal our land.
So please, all of you out there, please join us Kenyans in praying for peace and tolerance in my beloved country.

P.S Kelly Morris, we share the same nickname “Makena”, it is a Kikuyu word meaning exactly what you said “happiness”. My parents gave me that name when i was a young boy, coz i always used to smile at everything.

    Anyway, God bless you all.
