Mission Projects

The Charity Club

January 29, 2008

Hello America!

Thank you all for posting comments on our last blog update!

Daddy has done so many surgeries with other doctors; it is very exciting seeing him so happy with the work he gets to do. The other day we had the opportunity to go to an orphanage. There were so many kids that had different needs and personalities but all had the same happiness (from Jesus) which was the one thing that made US happy.

I and some other girls at the hospital compound, including Sophie, have started the Charity Club where we collect money from making different things such as ironed beads, cookies, lemonade ect.

We are selling them to all the missionaries and visitors and then taking donations. We are hoping to be able to give the money to a fund that helps the poor with hospital fees or the orphanage we visited. We would love for everyone to give us ideas for this project. So far we have KSH 645 (around $10 in American money- which is A LOT to the Kenyans), which is a great amount for working for only half a day!

Signing out,
Liv & Soph

Liv and Soph, Hello! I am so proud of you two – thinking of ways to bless others! WOW!!! Maybe you could offer to do light work around peoples homes, like fold laundry, play with children, make beds, sweep off porches, weed gardens, etc… Hope that gets you thinking! You are going to have so many stories to tell. We are praying for you and we will continue while in Honduras!

    I love both of you,

    Mrs. Mary Ann

    Liv and Soph,
We have so enjoyed reading about your travels in Kenya. Are you keeping a journal? You should because when you get back you’ll be able to share it with all of us. We would love to see “your” video from your perspective. I know Our Father will continue to bless you with “witty” ideas to help others, HE always does.
Looking forward to your next “report”.
    Much Love,
    Gary and Nancy

    Hey Olivia Hey Sophie,
Glad to hear that you are finding ways to help the orphanage. Sounds like you have been earning a lot of money for the orphanage. Did you have fun while you were at the orphanage? We missed you at school Tuesday. We played basketball in the parking lot because the court was too slippery. We played knockout. It was fun. Hope everything is going well. Take care.
    Love,
    Karlee

    Hello Gigi, Liv and Sophie!
I’m enjoying reading your blogs, keep ‘em coming! I am so proud of you as well, your hearts and outreach to others around you!! I came up with this idea…possible something to sell…or receive donations for. If you have glue, tape, stapler, scissors you can do wonders with it! Go outside and see what nature has to offer. Pray and ask God to open your eyes! Of course, I don’t know what kind of resources you have available…… but, are there any seed pods from the trees or a certain type of wood, long sticks or vines? What about gluing seed pods or sticks on card stock in a form of a frame, cutting it out and then attaching string/twine to the back for a hanger. You could form it in any shape, square, rectangle or heart. If any of you have a sketchbook, maybe you can sketch a lovely picture, place it in the frame and then sell it for BIG BUCKS!!! :)

Hope this sparks some creation!!!! Take care!

    Much love,
    Ms. Lesli
